Jahangir Mohammed of the Ayaan Institute argues that if Israel backed by the West gets its way, Palestine will cease to exist by the time of the next UK general election.
Israel is Attempting to Erase Palestine from the Map, with the Full Blessing of the West.
If the last nearly three months have taught us anything, it is that it is not Israel that is at risk of being wiped off the map, or Jewish people that are facing genocide (as the Jewish State and its global propagandists like to claim). Rather it is Palestine that is being wiped off the map and Palestinians are being liquidated as the world watches.
We are witnessing one of the greatest horrors of war since World War II. The destruction of all means of livelihood of the people of Gaza, the mass slaughter of innocent civilians, the huge number of children and women killed, the large number of UN workers and journalists killed, and universities, hospitals, places of worship, and schools destroyed. Sure, there have been other wars where such evil targeting has occurred and many more were killed. However, I cannot recall that happening in such large numbers in such a short timescale. I do not recall any recent war where nearly 6000 children and babies were killed in 6 weeks. Nor do I recall a situation where 2.3 million people have been displaced and trapped within such a small territory with nowhere to hide and denied all the necessities of life available for survival.
I recall the Bosnia genocide well. It took years of war, hate, and Western inaction before the Serbs slaughtered 8000 men and boys in Srebrenica. While Serbian militias and politicians would demonize Bosnia’s Muslims and use Christianity and history to justify their actions; I do not recall the present level of public comments indicating genocidal intent being so brazenly expressed by Israeli politicians, military, and religious leaders, using passages from the Bible, and referencing God. I recall the denials of genocide and atrocities by Serb militias and leaders, even blaming the Muslims for killing their own, and among some of the Serbian public. However, I have never seen such levels of atrocity denial against a people as in the case of Gaza, by Israel and its supporters (Jewish and non-Jewish). Quite frankly I have never seen such indifference to the suffering and collective punishment and crimes being committed against a people among a political class and media, as that witnessed in the UK, USA, Germany, and many other Western countries toward Palestinians. It is truly breathtaking and shows how morally bankrupt Western politics and media have become. It is racism at another level, yet all the concern in the West is for Jewish communities suffering antisemitism.
The images from Bosnia, of Muslim bodies in white burial shrouds, gravestones on most school fields, and half-naked men in camps with villages and mosques destroyed will haunt my memory forever. Yet what was visible then to few people, today is visible to most around the world daily. The entire world has watched a European-backed colonial genocide unfold on their mobile phones. Our politicians and mainstream media deny a reality that everyone sees. The full effect these images will have on the global Muslim public is yet to be seen. Having returned from Qatar, I saw one such impact, virtually empty McDonald’s, and Starbucks outlets.
The Goals of the Jewish State Are Clear.
Statements from those leading the self-proclaimed Jewish state about the war aims in Gaza have been made clear before and during the war. They are well documented in public for all those committed to prosecuting Israel for genocide, and I don’t need to repeat them here. The rise of the latest brand of messianic Jewish supremacy and its presence in the Israeli government since late last year was already pushing Israel toward wiping Palestine off the map. The events in the West Bank since January 2023, highlight that the process had already begun with increased thefts of Palestinian property, attempts to take over Al Aqsa, and the death of 236 Palestinians before October and 300 since. The Palestinian Authority has been an idle observer in the continued dispossession and killing of Palestinians in the West Bank throughout this year and since Oslo. Itamar Ben-Gvir the current Minister for Security is a once-convicted terrorist by the Israeli Supreme Court. The Kahanist is open about his plans for Palestine. One can go through the whole of the Israeli cabinet and look at their criminal or other extremist backgrounds. It is not therefore difficult to see why so many Palestinians have been slaughtered in Gaza. Yet these people are those that Western politicians support and consider “civilized” and democratic.
Israel’s UK ambassador to the UK Tzipi Hotovely and Benjamin Netanyahu last week made it clear there was not going to be a Palestinian state. This should not have been a surprise to anyone. Netanyahu himself was opposed to the original withdrawal of Israel from Gaza, so his position has always been clear. Israel has never been serious about a two-state solution, a little bit of research would have led anyone to conclude that the level of illegal settlements was an indication of that and made it impossible.
The aim of Israel’s war appears to be to push people from Gaza into the Sinia desert and those of the West Bank into Jordan. Israel had hoped the indiscriminate carpet bombing of Gaza and the destruction of all means of livelihood would have achieved this. However, the Palestinian population understanding these aims decided it was better to die and be buried in their ancestral land than forced out forever. Their steadfast determination to resist is the only thing that has so far prevented Israel from achieving its goal.
“White Man Speaks with Forked Tongue”
Western politicians have played a duplicitous game in the elimination of Palestine, as they did in Bosnia. On the one hand, they provide total support to Israel to achieve its goals. The US and UK continue to provide military assistance to Israel to assist with its war aims. The US recently vetoed a call for a ceasefire, meanwhile, the UK abstained. Western politicians state that Israel must be allowed to achieve its publicly stated war aims. They have been complicit in everything that has happened in Gaza.
However, in response to public anger, they pretend to be concerned about humanitarian suffering and talk about a sustainable ceasefire (whatever that means) and still rant on about a viable Palestinian state, knowing full well it is dead. Just as in Bosnia endless rounds of negotiations allowed the Serbs to achieve their goals.
If Western countries and even Russia had been committed to a Palestinian state, they would have stopped their Jewish populations from going to Palestine in illegal settlements a long time ago. In the USA and UK, charities have collected funds for such illegal activities for some time without any attempt to stop them. Members of Jewish communities from the same countries have been serving with the IDF in the Occupied Territories without prevention. Britain’s Foreign Secretary, following the US lead, recently announced that those “settlers” involved in violence would not be allowed to return to Britain. Perhaps they should have been stopped from going in the first place.
When European colonisers were dispossessing the indigenous populations of the Americas, they would often make promises, sign peace agreements, or guarantee land rights. The political and military forces of the European invaders/settlers would say one thing to the Native Americans and provide guarantees whilst continuing to slaughter them. The Native Americans adopted the saying that described accurately their European foes who could not be trusted “White man speaks with forked tongue”.
Eventually, the indigenous people of the Americas were dispossessed of all their land and suffered genocide. The Palestine people have been dealt the same fate as those indigenous people, and we have also learned that European politicians are duplicitous and cannot be trusted. If Israel gets its way, by the time of the next UK election there will no longer be a Palestine. In that case, every Palestinian refugee has the moral right to citizenship in the UK and the USA, because more than anyone they are responsible for their fate.
We have witnessed in real-time the reality of Western Civilisation. It has always been built and survived on racial supremacy, colonialism, and genocide of other people. The sooner the rest of the world realises Western countries are no partners for development and progress the better.
