Dr Fahid Qurashi is a Lecturer in Criminology at The University of Salford having been a Senior Lecturer in Sociology and Criminology at Staffordshire University (2018-2021) and a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Canterbury Christ Church University (2014-2018). His overarching research interest is focused on analysing British Muslim political agency and its management by the state. Specifically, he is interested in the development of Muslim political agency through an increasingly religious language (which touches on issues of radicalisation, extremism and terrorism), and the ways in which the state seeks to contain Muslim political agency (which touches on issues of surveillance, counter-terrorism policing, racism and Islamophobia).

Dr Qurashi has a PhD in Sociology (University of Kent), a MSc Criminology & Criminal Justice with Research Methods (University of Oxford), and a BSc (Hons) Criminology and Forensic Science (Northumbria University).
