The Muslim Ummah and Economic Crises: issues and solutions

WEBINAR: The Muslim Ummah and Economic Crises: issues and solutions
SPEAKERS: Jahangir Mohammed, Founder of Ayaan Institute.
Professor Mehmet Asutay, Durham University
DATE: 23rd February 2022
DETAILS: We are in the 21st century, yet many Muslim countries are still struggling to survive – barely able to meet the needs of their populations; economically weak, lacking prosperity whilst suffering high levels of corruption. They are in debt to others and dependent on international loans to continue existing. Lebanon is bankrupt, Pakistan is held together with international loans and international remittances, inflation and interest rates are out of control in Turkey and there is mass poverty in Africa.  Afghanistan is on the brink of starvation, whilst Yemen is suffering from intense famine, and Syria, Libya, Iraq, Sudan, and Somalia are broken states.

The Muslim World faces a series of political and economic crises. This important discussion focuses on the many economic challenges Muslim Countries and the Ummah face, and looks to offer possible solutions.

Join us for what promises to be a stimulating dialogue between Jahangir Mohammed, Director of Ayaan, and Professor Mehmet Asutay, Durham University.
